Andre Ward wins big in Sin City. Now grabs Light Heavyweight title

The two unbeaten KO artists finally met Saturday night in new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.  This is 7th time in boxing history when two undefeated fighters squared off inside the boxing ring (with 30+ wins).

Kovalev controlled the early rounds of the fight and had a great work of using his jabs and he even sent Ward to the canvas in the 2nd round.

But Ward rebounded to win a very close decision and dethroned Kovalev. (For some this was controversial)

Andre Ward connected some good combinations and threw clear shots. But it was his decent jabs and defensive tactic that made a big difference on this fight.

I honestly don’t recognize what’s on Kovalev’s mind. What’s his corner’s blueprint on whipping Ward.

From my point, Ward can’t take Sergey’s power. That jabs and 1-2 combinations are the key on beating Ward. But he wasn’t able to sustain that. He failed to do what needs to be done.

It was a great Saturday night for the boxing fans but not for Sergey.

He failed to put ample pressure to scare Ward and failed to amaze all of the three judges…Including Me.

On my card, just like with the three official judges, I also have it 114-113 for Ward.

Kovalev have said that he did a great work on neutralizing Ward and was got robbed.

"It's the wrong decision," …"But I don't want to give my opinion. Everybody is here, witnesses are here, everybody saw what happened,"
"He got maybe a few rounds. But not the whole fight. I kept control. I lost maybe three rounds.
"I'm a guest here in the USA and he's a local, and all the judges are from the USA. I agree they support their boxer but honestly, this is sport. Don't make it like politics."Sergey Kovalev
