Amanda Nunes defeats former champ Ronda Rousey on the main event of UFC's year end show. |
48 seconds, that’s what Amanda Nunes (14-4) all need to stop Ronda Rousey (12-2) and to retain women’s bantamweight belt.
It was a devastating comeback fight for Rowdy after a 13 month lay-off.
Ronda’s game is in the ground, she’s a Judo Olympic medalist. But Nunes
was too canny for Rousey.
Equipped with a great game plan, she powdered Rousey
in the very first round of UFC 207 main event.
When the bell rings, I knew what Amanda will do and how the fight will close.
But that “48 seconds” was surprising. Amanda was too good for Ronda. I
was really fascinated with what she has done.
After being showered by series of powerful shots from Amanda, Ronda was
helpless and exposed. She doesn’t know what do to. She was destroyed.
That’s when Herb Dean stepped in for a merciful stoppage.
“I
love that because I can show this up. I stop it like that. When I asked for this fight I know everything. I
prepare in my mind, my spirit and body for this moment. I know Ronda Rousey is
bigger. I know they love Ronda Rousey. But no one is taking this belt from me.” – Amanda Nunes
Amanda linked total strikes of 27/47 (58%) while Rousey has only 7/14
(50%). None of those shots hurt the Lioness.
Stand-up fight is simply not for Ronda. She’s done. The hype is over.
Her career is over.
But let’s don’t forget to reminisce on how she brought the sport on the
map. She’s one of UFC’s aces. She still deserves a “Standing O” despite a shocking
defeat.
For Nunes, a bright future awaits her. She’s the star now. She’s the
champ. Today, she’s the most dangerous woman inside the octagon.
A million dollar fight purse for Amanda? Only the UFC can tell…..
