Terrence Crawford
told reporters that he’s not thinking of fighting Pacquiao at this moment of
his career. He said that Top Rank and his co-managers Cameron Dunkin and Brian
McIntyre never open up that idea to him.
“I don’t even think about that fight,”
“I never even really paid too much attention about it. Like I always said, my
manager, my coach, Top Rank never came to me about a Pacquiao fight. I never
talked to his people about a fight. - Terrence Crawford
The story of
him fighting Pacquiao (probably September this year) that has been circulating
over the web is untrue, Terrence claimed.
“So when they put [out] all
those blogs and all those website [stories] about Pacquiao and Terence
Crawford, I never pay attention to it because it’s bogus. It’s just people’s
opinion and sometimes people’s opinions don’t matter. People can say, ‘Oh, I want
this fight, I want this fight.’ But just because you want that fights, that
don’t mean it’s gonna happen.” - Terrence Crawford
But the 29
year old Crawford (30-0 21 KOs) said that he is not closing the doors for the
Pacquiao clash. Anything can happen. The thing is that fighting the Filipino
boxing icon is out of his radar.
Terrence is still fresh and on his peak while
Pacquiao (59-6-2 38 KOs) is eyeing to end his boxing career at the end of this
year.
“Anything’s possible,” “It’s
just that I’m not focused on that. If it happens, it happens. If it don’t, it
don’t. I’m still young in my career. I’ve still got a lot left in me, and he’s
on the downside of his career. And if it don’t happen, so be it. - Terrence
Crawford
Despite having no
interest in fighting Pacquiao, the Nebraska native respects Manny Pacquiao’s
boxing career.
“Pacquiao earned that right to
go out however he wanna go out. He done fought everybody there is to fight and
took on all the big and baddest challenges there was. So I credit him and his
career. He had an amazing career, and if he decides to go out with whoever he
wanna go out with, he earned that right.” - Terrence Crawford
Facing Pacquiao would
really be a great deal for Crawford. Whether he wins or he loses, he will benefit
on it. Imagine how much attention he will get from the public for facing the
only 8 division world champion.
Terrence is one of the
best fighters in sport today. But it seems that he’s not being handled suitably.
A lot of people admires his technical skills but were not willing to pay extra
bucks to see him operate.
Terrence Crawford
will be facing Felix Diaz on May 20 at the Madison Square Garden.
