Amir Khan loses #1 spot as a challenger and removed from WBC’s top 15

Due to inactivity, Amir Khan lost his WBC number 1 spot as a welterweight contender and detached from the top 15.

The news was confirmed by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman.

“Amir Khan was a mandatory before. Then he fought Canelo. Then he would remain as mandatory, but then he got injured.” “He has been out of the ring for so long, that inactivity took over.” – Mauricio Sulaiman

The former super-lightweight champion of the world last boxed in May of 2016 against the present face of boxing, Canelo Alvarez. He was banged out brutally in 6th.

Following his fight with Alvarez, he suffered a hand injury and needed a full attention. The medical extension that his team filed was already expired.

Khan was rumored to be fighting twice this year, but everything didn’t run as planned as his previous negotiations fail.

His team is now working to land a perfect opponent for him. Pacquiao and Brook is on their wish list.
