Light Heavyweight Drama: Jon Jones faces anti-doping violation and may receive a four-year suspension.

Once again on his career, following his win at UFC 214, Jon Jones tests positive for steroid use.

Per USADA, the said banned substance was Turinabol. The first offender who carries this type of drug may face a two-year suspension and longer for multiple-offenders. Some reports say that Jon Jones may be banned for up to 4 years.

This is the second-time Jones has failed the USADA drug test. First, was back in 2016 at UFC 200 and he was pulled from the main event (against DC). He put all the blame on an enhancement pill that he claimed he didn’t realized contained a banned substance.

On the current suspension, Jon Jones or anyone from his team hasn’t given any alibi’s yet.

The report was confirmed by Dana White and the UFC posted a statement on their website regarding Jones potential anti-doping violation.

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Jon Jones of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected following his weigh-in on July 28, 2017.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Jones, as it relates to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and future UFC participation. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed the day before Jones’ bout at UFC 214 in Anaheim, CA, and USADA will work to ensure that the CSAC has the necessary information to determine its proper judgment of Jones’ potential anti-doping violation.
Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) also proved the report.

“The California State Athletic Commission has been made aware of Jon Jones’ test results and is looking into the matter,” “The Commission takes these matters very seriously and will take any appropriate actions necessary after a thorough review of the situation. As with all fighters, Mr. Jones is entitled to due process and the Commission will work with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to get all of the proper information.” - Andy Foster (CSAC executive officer)

Due to the incident, the organization will have Jones stripped off the title and Daniel Cormier will be named the current Light Heavyweight champion.
