In an exclusive talk with ESPN’s
Brett Okamoto on Monday, Dana White divulged UFC’s 2018 PPV event plans. Though
no fights have been disclosed, White had said that they will be taking UFC 220
on January 2018 in Boston.
There are tales in motion around
sporting world that the event in Boston will mark McGregor’s octagon return. If that’s accurate, then UFC 220 will be added
in UFC’s lists of bestselling MMA events.
Boston will be a picture-perfect
place for that occasion since there’s a bunch of Irish admirers in the said
state.
Following the UFC 220 statement, the
Promotion also unveiled their trip to Perth, Western Australia for UFC 221 on
Feb 11 that will feature nation’s pride, Robert Whittaker.
“I’ve always loved Australia.”” The
fans and energy are fantastic, but most importantly, we seem to have some of
the greatest fights there. My job is to put on the best fights in the world and
this is a place that never disappoints. I look forward to our first UFC event
in Perth next year and hope to entertain the fans once again.” – Dana White
The interim middleweight champion Robert
Whittaker was very pleased hearing the news about the organizations first stop
in the region and the impact of the decision to the sport. He is assigned to
take the winner of Bisping-GSP to Perth, in his hometown soil.
“This isn’t just huge news for UFC, but for the sport of MMA in Western
Australia. Finally, MMA can be competed nation-wide in the field of play
specifically designed for the sport,”
“Anything can happen between now and
Sunday, Feb. 11,” “With that said, fighting on home soil is always a dream come
true and I’d love to unify the UFC middleweight title here in Australia. My
next stop is New York City to be Octagon side for UFC 217 – let’s see what
happens in that main event between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre.”
– Robert Whittaker
