Jose Aldo to Dana White: Terminate The Contract As Soon As Possible

The story of former featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo (26-4) on wanting to get out on Dana White’s eight cornered circle has been mingling around since 2016, and now, has been resurfaced.

Visibly, Aldo isn’t enjoying his stint with the biggest MMA organization anymore. He wants to dismiss the contract and get out as soon as possible. The reason? Simply it’s Conor McGregor and Boxing.

A Failed McGregor Rematch

Aldo was so unsatisfied on not getting a rematch with McGregor after a shocking 13 seconds loss to the most popular Irishman back at UFC194. Dana White did his job on trying to land the rematch but it was McGregor who doesn’t have intents to fight the former Brazilian champ.

Dana had said straight to Jose Aldo’s face “Conor doesn’t want to fight you.”

Andre Pederneiras, Aldo’s coach/manager admitted that their primary plan is to get Conor McGregor after recording a win against Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.

But the whole thing goes down after knowing that it’s impossible to get what they’ve thought they could get.

“It was just difficult because after his fight with Frankie, he wanted Conor, but Conor wouldn’t accept the fight, and after that, Aldo started to think about retirement.” “Always. Always. We want a fight with Conor McGregor, but it’s hard to get. We know that. We know he doesn’t ever want to fight Aldo again. Maybe in boxing. Maybe he’d accept a boxing match. When we were meeting with Dana, he told us, ‘Conor does not want to fight you. I tried everything to put him in to a fight with you. I can’t put a gun to his head.’ That’s the word, from Dana to us. Dana told that to Aldo, directly.” - Andre Pederneiras

On Not Getting A Freedom To Box

Pederneiras said that they flew to Las Vegas and met Dana White and had discussed Jose Aldo’s future, this time, outside the octagon. He’ll try his luck wearing a different pair of gloves.

Surprisingly, Dana White didn’t permit him to box at all.

“He asked to fight boxing, Dana denied and, later, Conor was fighting boxing," "He did not have the thought he thought he might have. Months before he asked, the answer was no. Months later Conor manages to fight in boxing without problem and the UFC allowed it. Of course, he has a lot of money involved and in his [Aldo’s] fight he would not, but not everything in life is money. He became quite unmotivated.”Andre Pederneiras

Will Jose Aldo Continue Fighting?

There’s still a lot in his tank I guess. He’s is just unmotivated about the recent things happening around the corner. This is not yet the end for Jose Aldo. Let him out and fight, and He will assuredly score another win.

“I’ve never heard him talk about stopping," he said. "I think Aldo has been at it for a long time, in a very continuous time. I think Aldo could take a vacation and feel that motivation to return. I already talked to him, but he wants to end the UFC contract as soon as possible.” Andre Pederneiras
