UFC
president of operation Dana White previously canned the idea of making
Mayweather-McGregor clash, said that it’s impossible to stage the super fight
since McGregor is in exclusive contract under the UFC.
But last
night, White changes his tune. He is now optimistic that the “super fight”
might actually happen.
“I do think
it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously,
there’s a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always
make it tougher.”
“But on the
flip side, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t
happen.” – Dana White
White also
claimed that the fight would be a straight boxing match.
“It would be
boxing. No kicking, no elbows. In a boxing ring with gloves and the whole
deal.” - Dana White
Unbeaten
boxer Floyd Mayweather, while on his UK tour last week, announced that he is
officially out of retirement and will be fighting UFC’s most popular star Conor
McGregor.
“For Conor
McGregor…I’m coming out of retirement just to fight Conor McGregor. Simple and
plain, let’s fight in June.” “You’re the B-side. I’m the A-side. We’re not here
to cry about money. I’m tired of all this crying about money and saying you
want to fight. You’re blowing smoke up everyone’s ass. If you want to fight,
sign the paperwork.”– Floyd Mayweather
While many
believe that Floyd will dominate the Irishman, UFC chief still puts his faith
on his pupil and said that Floyd will have hard time facing McGregor.
"A lot of things make this fight intriguing," "Conor McGregor is huge. He's in the prime of his career. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had problems with southpaws; Conor is a southpaw, and Conor hits hard. When he hits people, they go. Floyd is definitely not knocking him out. That's for sure. – Dana White
Conor McGregor,
who holds two UFC title belts, is currently on a long leave while waiting for
her wife to deliver this May.
T-Mobile
Arena is reportedly reserved for the clash and it’s going down on June 10th.
This fight will surely generate millions of interests from every corner of the
world.
