Dana White: Fights Will Go On

The UFC won’t be pulling out any of its upcoming live events in spite the Corona virus epidemic. That’s according to the organization’s head Dana White after working thoroughly with the government of United States.

"I talked to the President and the Vice President of the United States today about this and they're taking this very serious and they're saying 'be cautious and be careful but live your life and stop panicking,"

“Everybody is panicking and instead of panicking we’re actually getting out there and working with doctors and health officials and the government to figure out how to keep the sport safe and how we can continue to put events.” – Dana White

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 170: Brazil
Lee vs Oliveira: UFC will go ahead with the event but is restricted to its staff that’ll be running the event as the government of Brazil have issued an order limiting the size of public events. This will be aired via ESPN, ESPN+ and other network channels.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT 171: London
Woodley vs Edwards: The event will proceed as planned. Fans are allowed to attend and watch the fight live in the O2 Arena in London.
UFC ON ESPN 8: Ohio
Ngannou vs Rozenstruik: The Columbus have issued a ban on public events with over 100 people so this heavyweight card will be move to the Apex Arena (UFC owned) in Las Vegas.
For the Fight Night 172 (Overeem vs Harris) and the most anticipated UFC 249 (Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson), the UFC hasn’t delivered any reports yet on how these two events will be handled.
Yesterday, Dana White have spoken about the impact of the corona virus on their future live events.
“We’ve been closely monitoring the situation with the Corona virus and its potential impact on the health and safety of UFC athletes, staff and fans around the world. We’re moving forward with all our UFC live events, but we’re going to adapt to these unprecedented circumstances. Some of the events we’ll be moved from their original host city to the UFC Apex here in Las Vegas, and, unfortunately, fans may not be allowed to attend the events. You know I hate this, but the decision has been made in the best interest of everyone involved with our events, including fans, athletes, staff and media partners.
The events are still going to be broadcast live on ESPN the network and on ESPN+ here in the United States and on media partners worldwide, including Combate in Brazil and UFC Fight Pass. So, you can watch the fights wherever you are on your TV, laptop, cell phone, anywhere, you know the drill. And fans who had tickets to the event can get a full refund at the point of purchase.
This is a very tough situation that is constantly evolving. So, we will keep you updated as best we can. We greatly appreciate your understanding and your continued support. Thank you guys very much.”
