Saul Canelo
Alvarez improves to 49-1-1 34 KOs after embarrassing Julio Caesar Chavez Jr
(50-3-1 32 KOs) in front of a sold-out seats at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
Nevada presented by Golden Boy Promotion.
Canelo
Showcased a very impressive performance. His stiff jabs and powerful shots intimidated
JCC from the beginning of the fight. He landed a total of 145/340 power punches,
that’s 42.6% calculated by CompuBox.
Chavez Jr,
who’s visibly afraid of being caught by Canelo, got hammered the whole fight
but still manages to live the 36-minute torture. #Sportstalk247 don’t
understand but a towel should have been thrown in 9th or 10th
round. Maybe they are waiting for a one lucky blow that could change the entire
situation (like what happened on Martinez bout).
Their fight strategy
was a total garbage. They went into a war unprepared and don’t have a copy of a
blue print on how to shatter Canelo.
Beristain recognizes
what they’ve missed.
“Jr. simply did not find the
distance. He could not let his hands go and suffered the consequences. Canelo fought
very well and executed his game plan. I am a professional in boxing and must
digest the loss. There will be no excuses…we lost” – Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain
Nacho Beristain
never seen stretches any instructions to Chavez Jr the whole night, the one who’s
giving Chavez Jr directions was his co-trainer and his father, Chavez Sr. who’s
also in the arena looking. He almost went to his son’s corner but got confronted
by the securities in the arena. He was in frustration and doesn’t like what he’s
seeing.
He yelled to
his son to fight and let his hands go because that’s what he needed to score a
win. But that never materialized. His son declined to make a fight and picked
to be Canelo’s moving punching bag. Chavez Jr just landed 6/25 per round, his
lowest totals in 26 of his fights. That main event turned out to be the most
popular sparring session aired around the world live.
There was a time
that Canelo challenges him to exchange shots but that invitation was got rejected
by the younger Chavez. He’s weak, drained and can’t match Canelo’s power. He
got busted and treated like an amateur. 165 is clearly not his class.
After a terrible night with Canelo Alvarez, Chavez
Jr.’s future is now in peril. Will his followers trust him on putting a great
quality of work the next time he fights? Or it’s better to call it a career and
feel good about the $3 Million he took from fighting Canelo?
It’s hard to
tell for now. But for sure, if he chooses to continue his boxing career, the
next time he fights, it will not be in 165 division. This fight was his biggest
loss and he wouldn’t be compared to his father.
