The American Dream: Spence Jr wants Pacquiao, Garcia or Thurman

Spence Jr (22-0 19 KOs) is now looking for a bigger draw after capturing his IBF belt last month by dispatching Kell Brook in RD11 in Bramall Lane, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Leaving Brook with broken eye socket.

The undefeated American tactician’s wish list includes WBA, WBC welterweight title holder keith Thurman, WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao and former two division Danny Garcia.

Among the three, only Danny Garcia (33-1) is accessible at any time since he doesn’t have a scheduled bout until the end of the year. Pacquiao (59-6 38 KOs), who’s looking to end his knockout drought will put his WBO belt on the line against Australia’s former Olympian Jeff Horn on July 2nd (I don’t think he has interest in fighting Spence Jr). And lastly Keith Thurman suffers an elbow injury and will be out for the rest of the year.

” I’d like to face Keith Thurman, but right now he’s injured. Hopefully, he gets better and then we can fight at the beginning of next year. There’s Danny Garcia out there. Manny Pacquiao, he has a fight coming up and he has one of the belts. So hopefully one of those three I can get in the ring and fight,” – Errol Spence Jr

Of course, a clash with Thurman will be the major draw (forget about Pacquiao. Spence Jr won’t be their priority). But if Spence Jr wanted to go and get busy, the right path is facing Danny Garcia first. And if he succeeded with that, then that’s the right time to turn into Thurman’s corner.

It is expected that Keith Thurman will be fully recovered and available by early next year. So, a proposed clash with Spence Jr is likely to occur.

There’s no easy track for Spence Jr as the welterweight division is crammed with a lot of furnished talents. Anyone can put a crack on his unblemished record and Spence Jr is aware of that.
