The most awaited middleweight
showdown between Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Kazakhstan’s hard
hitter Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) will be going down on September 16 at
the T-Mobile Arena.
WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight
belts are on the line.
The Promoters have decided to pick the
20,000-seat arena from other rival venues like MSG, AT&T Stadium and
Dodgers Stadium in LA (offered by Magic Johnson) as they’ve felt that the
T-Mobile Arena is the best place that fits the event.
"For the best fight on the best date in boxing,
there is no better venue than the T-Mobile Arena," "Fans won't only
be treated to a classic battle between the two best boxers in the sport, they
will also be able to enjoy an incredible week of activities marking Mexican
Independence Day. This will be a can't-miss event for hardcore and casual fans,
alike." – Oscar De La Hoya
Ticket prices were out ranging from astounding
$5,000 to $300 not including applicable service charges and taxes.
Complete ticket prices: $5,000, $2,500,
$1,500, $800, $700, $500 and $300 (prices are depending on your seat location)
This is Canelo’s second time at the
T-Mobile. His first was when he fought and defeated Amir Khan via knockout
dated back on May 2016. The Mexican star is very elated to be back in the Arena
to give his fans another great title shot.
"I am thrilled to return to T-Mobile Arena, and
to give the fans the best fight that can be made in our sport today," "I
have repeatedly said that I fear no man, and I am now going to prove it by
stepping into the ring against GGG. When the final bell rings, everyone will
know that this is indeed the Canelo era, and that I am the best fighter in all
of boxing." – Canelo Alvarez
For Golovkin, it’s his first trip to the
T-Mobile Arena. Though not that familiar with the venue, he’s still confident
to put a big mark on Mexican Independence Day.
The event will be handled by Golden
Boy Promotions and be aired on HBO PPV.
