THE PRICE OF SUCCESS: Mark Hunt suffers symptoms of brain damage after lengthy stint in combat sports
UFC’s Mark Hunt (13-11-1) is starting
to grieve symptoms of brain damage which include memory loss and slurred
speech.
After a long run in MMA, the
heavyweight brawler is now paying the price of being part of this treacherous business.
The New Zealand native competes in K-1 Kickboxing, Pride FC and lastly, at UFC.
“My body is
fucked but my mind is still here. I’ve still got my senses about me and I know
what’s right and wrong, which is the main thing. Sometimes I don’t sleep well.
You can hear me starting to stutter and slur my words. My memory is not that
good anymore. I’ll forget something I did yesterday but I can remember the shit
I did years and years ago. That’s just the price I’ve paid – the price of being
a fighter. But I’ve fought a lot of drug cheats and copped a lot of punishment
from guys who were cheating and that’s not right.” – Mark Hunt
Back in 2016, though Mark Hunt never
complained or opened anything about the trauma, a fan in fact observed some
changes on him.
Is Mark showing signs
of CTE lately? I'm actually worried he might be showing noticeable signs of
brain damage. His personality seems to have changed.
Getting hit is not a good thing, but
when will Mark Hunt learn to stop the burn from coming in?
Despite the circumstances, Hunt won’t
stop in stepping in the octagon. He still has three fights remaining in his UFC
contract and scheduled to face Polish Marcin Tybura on November 19th
at UFC Fight Night.
